If you live in India, have grown up in a tier 1/2 city and have gone to a premium English medium school.
You’re at an advantage from the rest 99 percent of the nation.
You’re privileged.
You will certainly not die hungry anymore.
If you’re fluent in English, can understand and work upon mildy complex tasks.
You’re blessed.
You will certainly not die poor anymore.
If you’re fluent in English, have studied and scored well through the Indian education system, and understood the concepts being taught in class well.
You’re sorted.
You don’t need to worry about much, rather leverage your position, exploit it (in a good way) and make the best out of it.
Why?
Because, unfortunately, for most of India, a big filter between high and low pay, might just be ones comprehension of the English language, and their ability to use it and work on midly complex tasks.
If you’re really good at it, you might become a manager or something. You’ll be valued for just this skill.
Now, I’m talking w.r.t. the rest of India, India 1, 2, 3 all of it.
Yes your local race to your local maxima is still there, and there are hundreds like you running towards it.
But, I want you to take a pause, and acknowledge, and thank your parents for the wonderful gift of education they gave you, and to understand how you can leverage this privilege you have, that not many do.
