It was a very long day today, and tomorrow feels like it’s gonna be even longer.

Here are a few observations from the day. No actionables this time.

  1. Work is so funny, people are so funny.

    • Most working people will realize that the most they do is just work with other people, and knowing how to work through them is an essential skill. This sounds so funny to be, because I always see value as ‘tangible’ but a lot of work invovles intagible value creation or exchange and that requires people work.
    • People work in mysterious ways, it’s almost funny. It’s funny because it’s unpredictable. Everyone, including me, has their own set of assumptions. And usually all one needs to do to get someone to do something is to change the story they’re telling themselves, breaking their older assumptions.
  2. Responsibilities and freedom of living.

    • I feel as you grow older, gain responsibilities and start to work. You start trading one kind of freedom for another.
    • You start trading the ‘living in the moment & enjoying to the fullest childlike freedom’ with the ‘I have the money and resources to do anything I want and sustain everyone I love’ freedom. And I question how much should be a balance of both.
    • When you start working, you start caring about tomorrow. Work restricts you in so many ways, because it’s not a one shot thing, rather a multi day, multi month process that you have to now be a part of.
    • All i’d say is, if you’re going to do so much sacrifice, it’s worth it to make sure that it’s towards the right things. You need to, non-negotiably, choose your eventual career very wisely. And keep working until you get there.
