So you know how they always say that if you just get 1% better everyday, that you’ll be 37 times better after 365 days.
But how do you actually do that?
How do you actually know you’re moving ahead.
Well, here’s a very simple framework for you!
It consists of 2 steps.
Step 1. Pick out one thing hindering your progress every day - and an actionable change you want to make along with it.
Step 2. Make that change for the next day and keep it for the rest of the 365 days.
You’ll be compounding like never before, fixing and growing yourself one small change at a time.
I also find it beautiful since “one small change” ties in with the one percent number.
To help you understand this, here’s an example:
Yesterday, on 08 Jan 2024, I noticed that my energy really drops when I eat carbs for lunch or just eat a big big carb rich lunch.
So, well, I stopped doing that today (09 Jan)
I woke up, had a big salad with protiens and fat.
and it worked!
It could’ve not worked and I would’ve tried something else out, but it worked.
Even if it wasn’t too high, I had a consistent energy level throughout the day. Achievement unlocked and new knowledge unlocked YAY!
Just like that, today I learnt that it’s really important not to spend your time doing the unimportant work. If it’s still significant for you in some way or the other - Schedule time for it.
So, tomorrow, I’m gonna implement these two changes:
- Set an alarm for every half hour of my working day - for me to remind myself of how I’m spending my time so far.
- Schedule time for building stuff for 1/2 hours in the start of the day - because I love doing it (but it might not be the most important or useful, especially if I do it between work timings.)
